About Pelita
Careful advice for agencies that carry public trust.
We work with government agencies and government-linked companies to understand where AI reading and drafting assistance fits — and where it does not. Officer judgement is never displaced.

How Pelita Came to Be
Pelita grew out of a straightforward observation: Malaysian public agencies were being approached by AI vendors whose products were designed for commercial contact centres or financial institutions, not for the particular reading culture of government correspondence. The vocabulary of those engagements — speed, scale, cost reduction — did not map well onto departments where a single case file might carry a citizen's livelihood.
The founding team had spent years working on administrative modernisation projects across Peninsular and East Malaysia, often in the context of MyDigital and MAMPU capacity-building programmes. That work made clear that what was missing was not more technology, but a careful reader who could sit between the vendor's enthusiasm and the operations head's reasonable caution.
Pelita was registered in Petaling Jaya to fill that gap — not as a technology reseller, but as an advisory practice that reads files, writes briefs, and leaves the deciding to the officers whose names appear on the correspondence.

How We Maintain Quality and Responsibility
PDPA Compliance Throughout
Every engagement begins with a data classification review. No citizen data is processed without explicit authorisation, and we maintain a written record of all data handling decisions.
MAMPU Guidance Alignment
Our usage policies and AI deployment frameworks are written to align with current MAMPU directives on AI in public administration. We review this alignment at each quarterly audit.
Written Deliverables Only
All findings and recommendations are delivered as written briefs in plain language. There are no proprietary dashboards or vendor lock-in — your director receives a document they can act on independently.
Officer Authority Preserved
Our technical arrangements ensure the AI system cannot send correspondence, close cases, or update records without an officer's explicit approval. Human review is mandatory at every decision point.
Air-Gapped Where Required
For agencies handling sensitive classifications, the integration architecture operates within an air-gapped environment. Data does not leave your approved government infrastructure.
Transparent Audit Trail
Every AI-assisted output is logged with a reference code. Quarterly stewardship clients receive a full log summary that can be presented to internal audit committees or the National Audit Department.
Our Position
AI in Government Work: A Measured View
Malaysian government agencies are at an early and important stage in understanding what AI assistance can reasonably contribute to public service delivery. The conversations happening inside ministries, statutory bodies and GLCs tend to be more careful than what appears in vendor presentations — and rightly so. The consequences of a poorly designed deployment reach citizens, not just quarterly figures.
Pelita's position is that the most useful contribution an external adviser can make is not to accelerate adoption, but to read the situation honestly. Some agencies will find that AI summarisation of incoming correspondence could free officers to spend more time on complex cases. Others will find that the correspondence volume does not justify the change, or that the data sensitivity makes even read-only integration inadvisable at present. We say so either way.
Where an engagement does proceed, we stay through the supervised period, review outputs regularly, and write for the director's file rather than for a vendor's case study. Our work ends when your team is confident in what the system does, what it does not do, and how to escalate concerns — not when a contract period expires.
